Johnson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov official for UFC 205 in New York

A loaded card just continues to get even more stacked. UFC President Dana White today confirmed that top lightweight contenders Michael Johnson (17-10 MMA, 9-6 UFC) and Khabib Nurmagomedov (23-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) will also meet on the card.

White today revealed the fight is official during a pre-fight press conference in New York to promote the upcoming event. Earlier today, White appeared on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” and revealed the promotion was working on the contest. According to the UFC boss, it’s now set.

Nurmagomedov is currently ranked No. 2 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA lightweight rankings, while Johnson checks in at No. 12.

Featuring a trio of title fights, UFC 205 takes place Nov. 12 at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The evening’s main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

“The Menace” Johnson recently snapped a two-fight losing streak with an impressive first-round knockout of Dustin Poirier at UFC Fight Night 94. Prior to his skid, Johnson had downed four consecutive victories after downing Edson Barboza, Melvin Guillard, Gleison Tibau and Joe Lauzon.

Meanwhile, Nurmagomedov boasts an incredible career record but has been slowed by injuries in recent years, notching just one win – against late replacement Darrell Horcher – in the past 28 months. However, one more win would certainly secure his spot in a long-awaited title fight.

While the night’s official bout order has yet to be revealed, UFC 205 now includes:

Champ Eddie Alvarez vs. Champ Conor McGregor – for lightweight title
Champ Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson – for welterweight title
Champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz – for strawweight title
Yoel Romero vs. Chris Weidman
Donald Cerrone vs. Kelvin Gastelum
Michael Johnson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
Raquel Pennington vs. Miesha Tate
Frankie Edgar vs. Jeremy Stephens
Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy
Tim Boetsch vs. Rafael Natal
Thiago Alves vs. Jim Miller
Lyman Good vs. Belal Muhammad
Liz Carmouche vs. Katlyn Chookagian

It’s Official: McGregor Will Meet Alvarez at UFC 205

Now it is official. We have been informed recently about McGregor’s new opponent at the UFC 205. But that is not all. Alvarez is currently a lightweight champion who will put his title on the line. If McGregor manage to win, he will set the history in the UFC. he will be the fighter with 2 titles. He will of course hold two titles in two different weight classes at the same time.
McGregor, ufc 205
This will be the headline of the UFC 205 at the Madison Square Garden, NY. Fist to fist will be extraordinarily presented at the venue since it is also presenting extraordinary titles fight. As confirmed by Dana White, the president of UFC at the Sports Center of ESPN, the title of Alvarez’ will be the one to put on the line. Less pressure, McGregor will tempt to steal the title from Alvarez.

Actually, the bout of McGregor should be one which Rafael Dos Anjos as the opponent at the 155 lbs weight level. But, the Brazilian fighter had been withdrawn because of circumstances.

For Alvarez, in the other side, it is going to be his very first title defense, after winning over Dos Anjos last july in only one round.

The next bout involving Alvarez and McGregor will also feature two more titles:

- Welterweight title as the co-main event, involving Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson
- And Strawweight strap, involving Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

McGregor is the current featherweight champion. But rest assured that he will not put his title on the line. If he make it, he will be joining two others as the only fighters in the UFC history to grant titles in different weight classes besides Randy Couture and BJ Penn. McGregor has the chance to keep his featherweight title through UFC 205, which means he leverages his chance to become the first fighter ever to hold the belts at the same time.

It is a fight that the fans deserve to watch it. Besides, McGregor actually got the chance to do this at the UFC 196 in March 2016. But unfortunately, Rafael Dos Anjos was pulled out due to injury just 2 weeks before the bout began. Instead, Nate Diaz came in the rush hour as the respective replacement.

Eddie Alvarez will defend his title. It is his first title defense that should make it clear that it is not going to be an easy pass for McGregor. So, what will happen?

Alvarez - McGregor confirmed for UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden

Conor McGregor to challenge Eddie Alvarez for lightweight title at UFC 205

ufc 205, McGregor vs Alvarez

A lightweight championship bout between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor will headline UFC 205 on Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden.

UFC officials confirmed the 155-pound title fight to ESPN on Monday. The UFC 205 pay-per-view is historic in that it marks the promotion's first trip to New York since a 1997 ban on professional mixed martial arts was lifted earlier this year.

McGregor (20-3), the current featherweight champion, will attempt to join BJ Penn and Randy Couture as the only fighters in UFC history to win titles in multiple weight classes. Per UFC president Dana White, McGregor will retain his featherweight championship through UFC 205, meaning he has the chance to become the first ever to hold those belts simultaneously.

"This is the fight the fans wanted, and I'm excited that our very first event at Madison Square Garden will be headlined by Eddie Alvarez defending the lightweight title against Conor McGregor," White told ESPN. "This card has three world title fights and is the best card in UFC history."

The Irish superstar won the featherweight crown in December by knocking out longtime 145-pound kingpin Jose Aldo in 13 seconds. The victory remains the fastest finish in UFC title fight history.

McGregor, 28, was actually supposed to chase this piece of history at UFC 196 in March, but a lightweight championship fight against then-champion Rafael dos Anjos fell through due to injury.

McGregor elected to remain on the card and fought Nate Diaz, who accepted on 11 days' notice, at welterweight. Diaz handed McGregor his first loss in the UFC via second-round submission.

Rather than head back down in weight, McGregor demanded an immediate 170-pound rematch against Diaz (19-11). He won the second fight via majority decision at UFC 202 in August.

Alvarez (28-4) won the title in a first-round knockout over dos Anjos in July. The 32-year-old Philadelphia native also has held a 155-pound title in Bellator MMA. Alvarez publicly campaigned for a fight against McGregor, even though White briefly targeted a bout between Alvarez and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

In addition to the lightweight title fight, defending welterweight champion Tyron Woodley (16-3) is scheduled to fight Stephen Thompson (13-1), and female strawweight titleholder Joanna Jedrzejczyk (12-0) will face off against fellow Polish striker Karolina Kowalkiewicz (10-0). News Source: [ESPN]

Who Is McGregor’s Next Opponent? Find Out Here

McGregor, ufc 205
Perhaps not all folks remember this but McGregor promised to get titles at two weight divisions the moment he made his debut in the UFC event. Regarding to the next bout, it is a huge chance that he will make it. Many people also believe that.

Joe Rogan, the professional UFC commentator, initiated that McGregor would be facing against lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at the UFC 205, November 2016. He said that allegedly at Madison Square Garden, it was possibly represented. The pledge resolution is getting near.

Alvarez, the opponent, has won 155-pound belt by defeating Rafael dos Anjos in Las Vegas in July. Alvarez with proud told the media that he asked Dana White to give much easier opponent like Conor McGregor. He said he deserved that since he had been fighting for the best. But at that time, McGregor was preoccupied with the preparation of his UFC 202 fight card. He won the fight by decision. If people, as well as fans, think that he would pursue the third weight class fight in the UFC, Rogan said “Nah..”. He has his doubt.

He didn’t think it was feasible at all. Actually the idea of this match-up emerged in the surface witnessed by Dana White’s after UFC 202. Rogan stated that he didn’t think that McGregor could meet 145 pounds anymore. Schaub also said the same thing. But most people agree that we would expect to see his rematch with Aldo although Rogan said it was not possible.

And the aim is true. With the different weight division after Joe Rogan revealed for the next fight, lightweight division will probably hold McGregor for longer time.

The rumor of Conor McGregor vs Eddie Alvarez will be realized sooner or later. As it is only 2 months away, there is no stronger reason to call it off.

The featherweight champ Conor McGregor is rumored to face against Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title. Well, as mentioned, rumor is almost possible. Although many people want to see McGregor to have a rematch with Jose Aldo, some also suggest that he will go after 155.

After going 25 minutes in rigorous fight with Diaz, he was put on the medical suspension. However, this war machine is popularly known for being an active fighter. For him, there is no word “too soon”. Related to the upcoming UFC card, it is very possible that Eddie Alvarez will make an appearance.

Jim Miller,Al iaquinta,UFC 205
Many fans acknowledge the stories behind the contract dispute involving Al iaquinta with the UFC. There are reasons why his bout is cancelled under UFC 205. He can say “next time” to the famous Madison Square Garden now.

Long story short, he explained the detail about his resting time while he was injured, the situations which made him not granted for bonuses for the fights, and how he lost the sponsorship from Reebok. He was scheduled to face Thiago Alves in the next bout of UFC. But as lightweight debut, Alves apparently made a new opponent instead of la quinta.

As seen on the popular MMA media, the source firmly announced that Miller will be the replacement of la quinta. He will fight the former UFC welterweight title contender on November 12th.

Miller is in his prime states because of the 2 previous winning streak. It is actually his first prime state since 2013-2014 season. He made the easy way to beat Takanori Gomi at UFC 200. Then he had an amusing split decision when facing against Joe Lauzon on FOX 21. The upcoming bout will be his 4th bout in the 2016. At his 25th UFC appearance, this year will be the most scheduled fights in his entire career life.

Miller started his professional fighting career on 2005 when fighting against Eddie Fyvie on November 19. Miller received unanimous decision victory. Because of that, he was eligible to fight Muhsin Corbbrey under the Reality Fighting Lightweight Championship.

With his brother, Dan, he began training at AMA Fight Club in New Jersey due to the Jiu-Jitsu closedown. For the first time, Miller defended his title at Cage Fury Fighting CHampionships 5 against Anthony Morrison. And he made it. He standed for his title. Then in the next card, he defended his title once again. hOwever, the event was cancelled.

Miller made his debut in the UFC in UFC 89. For starter, he made a great debut. He defeated David Baron in the third round. Starting from that event, his name had been often listed in the next UFC events until recently we will see his face again in UFC 205. So what will happen? Make sure you don’t miss it.

Conor McGregor vs Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 is about to be announced

ufc205, conor mcgregor
UFC commentator Joe Rogan has hinted that Conor McGregor will face Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden in New York.

McGregor is currently serving a medical suspension after his epic five-round triumph over Nate Diaz in August, but Rogan teased listeners on a recent podcast that a deal was being done.

‘I know a little something that I wish I could tell, it’s a interesting fight, man,’ said Rogan when asked about the Alvarez rumour.

‘If it happens… allegedly at Madison Square Garden. If it happens… allegedly in a couple of months.”

‘But if it does happen, Eddie’s a big boy. He can grapple.

‘He’s a f****** grinder and whatever endurance issues Conor may have, he better iron those f****** out before you go to town with that guy.’

If McGregor is given the reprieve at 145 to fight lightweight champion Alvarez, he will be bidding to become first UFC two-weight champion.

Alvarez has been gunning for a clash with the Irishman since claiming his title earlier this year, but believes McGregor is too scared to take the fight. Content From: Metro
